BetMGM launches State Championships, largest series in site history

Some bragging rights are on the line after BetMGM Poker announced the launch of the first BetMGM Poker State Championships In Monday.

The online poker platform is available in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan. The Championships function 26 events run in the tri-state from September 15-25 in all three states, with more than $2 million in total guarantees.

The new series comes as BetMGM/partypoker US continues to offer expanded and unique online series each month. The company also held the BetMGM Poker Championship earlier this year in Vegas with many online qualifiers in the mix.

What to expect and where to play at BetMGM

In all three states, players will find many important safeguards. This includes $795,000 in New Jersey, $540,000 in Pennsylvania and $680,000 in Michigan. Here is an overview of the skins available to play the series in each state:

BetMGM Poker State Championship Highlights

State Championship players will find buy-ins ranging from $100 at $2,500. The schedule features mostly No Limit Hold’em with some Pot Limit Omaha events added as well.

Players will also find four events with buy-ins of $1,000 or more. This includes the $2,500 High Roller current on September 18 with a guarantee of $100,000 in New Jersey, $50,000 in Pennsylvania and $75,000 in Michigan.

Bigger buy-in events also include the $1,000 PLO High Roller September 24 and $1,000 Championship September 25. The series also includes three popular single-elimination (PKO) events, including a $500 Super Bounty on September 19. PKO tournaments have become one of the most popular online poker events.

Unlike a traditional bounty tournament, players only earn a portion of an opponent’s bounty after an elimination. The other part is added to the winning player’s bounty, with the bounty increasing throughout the series. This gives players a chance to earn even more for each elimination as they progress through the tournament.

Series qualifiers to escape from September 10-25, with buy-ins ranging from $5 to $100. Players can also take advantage of early registration. Here is an overview of the whole series.
