Boxpark chooses Liverpool to open its first location outside of London

Boxpark has presented proposals for its sixth location and its first Boxpark-branded development outside of London as it heads to Liverpool.

The retail, leisure and hospitality operator has entered into a 15-year lease with Terracotta Asset Management Limited for The Canning Hall site in the south of the city of Liverpool, which is in the Baltic Triangle area, part of the Cains Brewery Village estate.

Opening at the end of 2023, Boxpark Liverpool will be the first of its kind outside London with three locations in Shoreditch, Croydon and Wembley.

Built in the 1980s, Liverpool’s large gantry warehouse will be transformed into a dining and entertainment destination, featuring a large indoor space with units spread across the ground floor, a small indoor mezzanine and an outdoor terrace.

Formerly a former industrial estate, the area has established itself as a vast and growing hub of creative industries, offices, restaurants, bars and leisure units since the mid-2000s.

Boxpark will offer approximately 10 units by independent food operators.

Spanning 16,000 square feet and containing 400 internal covers and 200 external covers, the proposals for Boxpark Liverpool will include approximately 10 kitchen units, three internal bars with additional external bars.

Additionally, there will be a 5,430 square foot outdoor terrace to provide al fresco dining and intimate events.

“Our team has been researching sites in Liverpool extensively since 2016, having considered several locations across the city,” said Boxpark CEO Simon Champion.

“As a dynamic and rapidly growing business, we hope Boxpark will be an exciting addition to Liverpool’s bustling food and drink scene, providing an all-day dining and entertainment destination.”
