Italian ammunition maker plans Little Rock Port facility

Italian Munitions Maker Plans Little Rock Port Facility – Arkansas Times

GOVERNOR HUTCHINSON: Displays a Fiocchi ammo box.

The Little Rock Port development mentioned here yesterday is a new facility for Fiocchi, an Italian ammunition manufacturer.

Fiocchi opened a plant in Little Rock on 145th Street in 2020 and that plant now has four shifts of workers, Gov. Hutchinson said at a news conference today.

The new 281-acre facility in the Little Rock Harbor Industrial Park will employ approximately 125 people and represent an investment of $42 million. Much of the area is in wetlands and will not be developed.

Commerce Secretary Mike Preston credited the governor’s creation of a “pro-gun culture” in Arkansas for the expansion here. He said Fiocchi considered several other sites before deciding on Arkansas.

The sale of the land to a third-party buyer was approved at a brief meeting of the Little Rock Port Authority board of directors this morning. The members were not informed of the type of installation planned, but acted on the recommendation of the port manager, Bryan Day. The Little Rock City Board will approve the sale at its meeting tonight. Fiocchi officials said further expansion is possible here.

They also touted their “green” philosophy. This facility will manufacture lead-free primers for ammunition.
