Mario Maker Fan Spends 7 Years Making Super Mario Bros. 5

This is a dedicated maker for Super Mario Maker 2.

Nintendo may have released its last major update for Super Mario Maker 2 two years ago, but the game-making title is still the spring of Mario creators, including a very, very dedicated fan.

As spotted by Nintendo’s lifeMario fan ‘Metroid Mike 64’ is working on building an entire “Super World” in Mario Maker 2. Unofficially called Super Mario Bros. 5, the creator has been working on his project since 2015 “trying to make a classic Mario game that plays as if Nintendo made it themselves.”

It’s been a real labor of love for Metroid Mike 64, on a project that began with the release of the first Super Mario Maker. His Super Mario Bros. 5 features “40 full courses spread across 8 worlds” and only uses templates and courses as can be found in NES and SNES Mario games. There are 24 courses in Super Mario World, 14 in Super Mario Bros. 3 and two courses of Super Mario Bros.

“The gameplay is all classic Mario. I’m not trying to troll you or deliberately trying to kill you, I’m trying to provide you with something Nintendo should have already done, make a complete Mario game in Super Mario Maker 2 , it’s fun as hell!” wrote Metroid Mike 64 on Twitter.

“So I urge you to dust off your copy of Super Mario Maker 2 and give my Super World a try. I’ve shed a lot of blood, sweat and tears on it over the past 7 years. Hope you enjoy this game as much as I have,” he continued.

Those who want to try, the Maker ID code you need is: 0G9-XN4-FNF. Good platform.
