PUBG maker may have blockchain in mind for next game – Times of India

Brendan Greene, the man responsible for creating the PUBG battle royale sensation, may imply block chain with its next game, according to a report from PC Gamer. The game developer is gone PUBG Corporation last year and launched a new studio called PlayerUnknown Productions. There he is working on an open-world project called Artemis in which players will have a lot of freedom because “they can move around and do whatever they want”, according to the report. Does that mean we’re looking at a metaverse-like scenario here? Related questions were answered by Brendan Greenin an interview on Nathan Brown’s Hit Points blog.
“I’m just going to do what I’m going to do,” Greene said. “It’s this thing that we want to create, and it’s going to give people a lot of fun, a lot of fun, and a lot of meaningful things to do. But it doesn’t matter if it’s called the metaverse. I don’t care how people want to call it.
“I think you should be able to extract value from a digital place; it has to be like the internet, where you can do things that will make money for you,” he adds. “But it’s not about, like Chanel and Louis Vuitton. It’s a kid called AwesomePickle who sells cool skins because he understands what people want.
On reports of him working on a blockchain-based game using NFTs for items, Brendan clarified in a tweet.
“Not enough. We view blockchain, or a future evolution of this technology, as a utility within our digital space, not the foundation of it,” Greene said in the tweet.

Before Project Artemiswe might see another game, which has been called Prologue only and might also be “considered” for the blockchain.
