EVENT: Sonoma Film Festival
The Sonoma International Film Festival offers the best in film, food, wine and fun this weekend. The small film festival which could celebrate its 25th anniversary and you are invited to the party until Sunday. This landmark event features over 100 new films from around the world, spectacular culinary occasions, panels, live music, parties and special events. Star chefs Jacques Pepin and Joanne Weir are honored this year with one of the greatest movie stars of all time – Jacqueline Bisset (Bullitt, Airplane, The Deep and the new movie Loren & Rose).

FILM: The Rose Maker
Set in the rose-filled hills of France, the subtitled Rose Maker is about, yes you guessed it, roses or a woman who creates roses. A passion and a profession transmitted by his father who died 15 years ago. The mistress of the rose farm faces seizure of her business unless she finds a way to beat the competition. The Rose Maker is full of laughter and heart and finds some courage along the way.

CHEERS: Pliny the Younger
Russian River Brewing Company’s Pliny the Younger is a triple IPA, which means it’s higher in alcohol and contains tons of hops. First brewed in 2005 as a seasonal winter release, the release fell victim to the COVID pandemic. Now it’s back. EAT: Oakland Restaurant Week

Oakland’s food scene has never been hotter, and you’re invited to come dine as Restaurant Week wraps up this weekend. Dozens of restaurants participate with special tasting menus for lunch and dinner. Chef Nelson, the rock star chef at the helm of Sobre Mesa, serves up killer new cocktails with his menu.
