LONDON, LONDON, UK, August 1, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — Technology is about people, not algorithms, notes author and data scientist Dr. Stylianos (stelios) Kamakis as he celebrates the second anniversary of his seminal work, “The Decision Maker’s Handbook to Data Science”. Now in its 2nd edition, this book has introduced the complex and overrated world of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data to countless business leaders in a simple, easy-to-follow way.
The second anniversary celebration, held on June 26, was organized by the Tesseract Academy led by Dr. Stylianos. Over 130 attendees purchased tickets focused on the latest changes, frameworks and developments in the world of data science, and the many choices available to entrepreneurs today. The Tesseract Academy will soon launch a certificate course in Executive Data Science.
The culmination of more than a decade of doing data science, the handbook grew out of a data science workshop Dr. Stylianos held in London for policy makers. He then self-published the first edition, which quickly became popular for its down-to-earth style and for demystifying the buzzwords that fill the business world. Buzzwords like Hadoop, artificial intelligence, blockchain, machine learning, big data and analytics, etc.
Tech-phobia is often the result of the use of big words and the hype surrounding them. The field of data science is indeed multidisciplinary. Dr. Stylianos’ goal in writing this book was to make data science accessible without fear or hype, and change had to start at the cultural and educational level. The fruits of the labor can now be seen in the reception the book has received since its publication.
“Great for executive-level readers who need to leverage data science into decision-making processes. Highly recommended!” Says a recent reader.
The second edition of the handbook presents a solutions-oriented approach to doing data science when it comes to solving business problems, as well as the expertise and tools needed to develop a solid and effective data strategy in permanence. Also included are pitfalls to avoid and many frameworks to use to grow a business.
Throughout his career, Stylianos has been actively involved in a wide range of projects involving science, data, technology and data science education. He often writes about data science, machine learning, blockchain and other topics on his blog: The Data Scientist (thedatascientist.com). He holds a PhD in Computer Science from University College London, an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Edinburgh and numerous other academic qualifications.
