Essentially, they’re trying to create more world-building and get your characters out of the house and the town in general. The first major addition to The Sims 4 It’s life changing for all neighboring Sims, with or without active household connections. The new Neighborhood Story System unlocks interesting, self-contained changes around the world, providing neighboring Sims with richer, more complete lives that will evolve over time, including allowing them to:

  • Adopt young Sims into their homes, from infant to toddler
  • Become pregnant with their significant other and give birth
  • Adopt a dog or a cat
  • Join or leave careers; Elder Sims can also choose to retire
  • Entering and exiting batches
  • Die in various types of accidents, depending on a Sims age, traits, and career

The second major addition includes a new set of game controls that allow a player to adjust what life changes neighboring Sims can and cannot have. The neighborhood stories system can be configured in several ways:

  • Independent Configurations: Players can choose to enable or disable each type of life change and even disallow all neighborhood stories in specific households.
  • Default: Neighborhood stories can be turned on for other households and turned off for my households
  • Household-Specific Setups: Each household can have its own unique setup, allowing Simmers to tailor life changes that make sense to that household’s story
  • Global On or Off Settings: Neighborhood Stories can also be turned off entirely in Game Options.

To keep tabs on all these changes, players can check any recent Neighborhood Stories interactions through any mailbox. If they want, they can also visit nearby Sims to see their life changing action!
