4:26 p.m.: The long-dormant and frequently vandalized development site in the 5200 block of California SW — two former restaurants and a former shopping center — has a new plan, according to what we just found in the city’s online files: A complex of assisted living. A preliminary site plan filed with the city on Tuesday shows the proposal originated from Living Aegis, which already has an assisted living and memory care complex in West Seattle, West Admiral. We reported a year ago that the site was back on the market, after a redevelopment plan as stalled townhouses, and the listing has been ‘(sale) pending’ for some time ; King County Assessor records do not yet indicate a completed sale. The site is zoned for a four-story mixed-use development (NC2-40). We contact Aegis to learn more about their plan, which the city’s website simply summarizes as “a new neighborhood building for assisted living and living.”
7:17 p.m.: We’ve heard from an Aegis spokesperson who says there’s not much to say as it’s at an early stage but promises info tomorrow.
